John Breslow Ice Hockey Center is now Open!

Last week we attended the Opening of the John Breslow Ice Hockey Center and it is amazing! The indoor skating center is next to Haymarket Park and houses an NHL size ice rink. The John Breslow Hockey Center is a premier facility offering a large parking lot, easily accessible restrooms, concessions and a plenty of seating to cheer on UNL's hockey team. The center will have many programs and hours open to the public. They offer public skating, stick & puck, drop-in hockey sessions, birthday parties, learn to skate lessons, youth & adult hockey and broomball programs.

To celebrate their opening they invited the community for a free ice skating lesson. Our daughters have wanted to try out ice skating so we thought this was the perfect opportunity. The attendees were taught the basics of ice skating such as proper falling and getting up, forward skating, gliding and stops. The excitement of the staff and the many volunteers was contagious. The kids smiled even when they were stumbling on their skates.


During the month of December there will be public skating hours everyday (except Christmas Day). Prices are $6 for adults, $5 for kids and a $3 skate rental. Look below for complete skating times this month and happy skating!
