Fishing is a wonderful way to connect with your family. Whether you are an avid fisherman or new to it (like me), it is a great way to spend time with your children and spouse. Leave technology at home and enjoy nature. There are many different opportunities to enjoy fishing in our area this spring and summer.
May 19th: Free Park Entry and Fishing Day is offered at all Nebraska State Parks and Recreation Areas. Mark your calendar for this great event and enjoy a free day at the park and fishing. Anglers must observe all fishing regulations. All Nebraska State Parks and recreation areas, all day!
Family Fishing Nights are organized by Nebraska Game & Parks and there are several Lincoln-area events. They are from 6:00-8:00 PM. Rods and reels, as well as bait and fishing instruction, will be available for free. Look for the Family Fishing Trailer at each site. All fishing permits and regulations apply. Everyone except Nebraska residents under age 16 must have a valid Nebraska fishing permit.

July 10: Oak Lake

August 2: Holmes Lake
Carp-O-Rama
This fun fishing event is for anglers of all ages interested in learning all aspects of carp fishing. The carp caught at the events will be used in demonstrations on cleaning, preparing and cooking the fish. The cooked fish then will be served as a free lunch. Carp-O-Rama is from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM.
June 23: Branched Oak Lake, Liebers Point
Kid's White Perch Tournament
Sign up your kids or sign up as a family group to compete in this fishing tournament. You can borrow fishing gear, the tournament is free to enter and lunch is provided to all participants! White Perch Tourament is 9:00 AM-12:00 PM with sing up starting at 7:00 AM.
