Husker Game Childcare: Jr. Blackshirts

By Mary Monahan August 16, 2017

1. No Need For a Sitter

Have you ever tried to find a babysitter for a Husker game? It's easier to find someone on New Year's Eve or Valentine's Day than to find someone to watch kids on Husker game days. If you use Jr. Blackshirts you don't need to find a sitter. Yes, you read that right. You don't need to find a sitter. You just sign them up! You can register your children here.

2. Tailgating Time

You can check your child in up to 90 minutes before the game and you have 45 minutes to pick them up after the game. During the 90 minutes before the game you can tailgate, spend time with friends and enjoy the atmosphere.  If the game goes into over time-you don't need to worry about getting ahold of your babysitter. You have plenty of time to get the kids and the car (or get the car and then the kids)! Jr. Blackshirts is held in the Lee & Helen Sapp Recreation Center, conveniently located around the corner from the stadium.

3. For ages 2-12

Jr. Blackshirts is great for kids of all ages. I especially like Jr. Blackshirts because I can bring all of my kids and they each have fun doing different activities.

Children are placed in activity areas according to their age and there is a low child to staff ratio. The ratio goal is for 1:4 for age 2-3, 1:6 for age 4-5, and 1:12 for age 6-12.

-Offense: 2-3 years
-Defense:4-5 years
-Special Teams: 6-12 years

4. Fun Activities

While you are having fun, your kids will have fun! Some of the activities include:

  • Relays & Games
  • Movies
  • Crafts
  • Board Games
  • Parachute Games
  • Basketball
  • Football
  • Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Badminton

5. Diapers are Welcome

Are you potty training? Or have a child that isn't ready yet for underwear? Jr. Blackshirts ask that parents provide at least 5 hours of diapers and a change of clothes based on the length of the game.
