If I could sum up our summer in one word, it would be a tie between ice-cream (let's pretend that it is one word) and swimming. We eat a lot of ice cream in the summer, especially when it is really hot. Lincoln is home to some great ice cream shops and we'll give you the scoop on our favorites.
Ivanna Cone-Ivanna Cone is in the heart of the Haymarket and they offer up traditional flavors, Sweet Cream Vanilla, and very non-traditional flavors like Sesame Gingersnap. Normally, you'll often find a line going out the door, especially if there are large events going on at the Pinnacle Bank Arena or the Railyard. I like to order their flights!
Scoops-So many delicious flavors and now they have flights of ice cream for those who just can't choose one flavor (or two, or three).
Dairy Joe's-We had heard about this gem of an ice cream store and finally found it! As everyone recommended we got the lemon softserve and it was DELICIOUS. It is located on 8235 W O St.
C & L Dairy Sweet-Located at 2101 W. Van Dorn, this ice cream spot is a Lincoln tradition! If you want the lemon-it is only available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. (You do, so go those days.)
UNL Dairy Store-How often can you have fresh ice cream when living in a city? You can if you live in Lincoln! The UNL Dairy Store has been around since 1917 and serves handmade ice cream and cheeses. After getting our ice cream we like to walk around the grounds of East Campus, which are really beautiful in the summer.
Zesto-Zesto is a Lincoln staple, serving only soft serve ice cream with fun toppings like Krunch Kote. There is one location at 1100 South St.
402 Creamery-Located in three areas in Lincoln , they make amazing monthly ice cream creations with fun flavors like: Malty Python and Key Lime of My Life and they offer dairy-free ice cream.
Dairy Queen- Our favorite Dairy Queen is locally owned and on 3835 South St. They have huge swings to sit in and you can enjoy your ice cream and watch the world drive by as you lazily swing and enjoy your icecream.
