*What is the difference between an X-ray and an MRI?

MRI combines a powerful magnet with radio waves (using no radiation) and a computer to create highly detailed images of structures in the body. Images are viewed as cross sections or "slices" of the body part being scanned.

X-rays use raditaion to produce an image of the body's internal structure.
