A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: SEPTEMBER 12, 2019

By Mary Monahan September 12, 2019

My husband and I are going to a wedding this weekend and I'm so excited. I love weddings! I love all of it: the ceremony, the dancing at the reception, the cake, the reminiscing back to our wedding.

We've been married for twelve years and when I think about our relationship, it has changed a lot over the years. My husband and I are polar opposites and we annoy each other simply by being ourselves. It is never boring because we spend so much time trying to figure out why the other person is the way that they are. For example, we have Tupperware Round Up Day. Yes, you read that right. Tupperware Round Up Day. It is my least favorite day of the year. It is the day when my husband goes through our whole house and cars and insists that we match up our Tupperware. What doesn't have a match gets tossed. It also involves a lecture on how to properly stack the tupperware.

The below conversation perfectly sums up my marriage.

Me: Have you seen my glasses?
Husband: Yeah, they're on your side of the sink.
Me: We have sides?
Husband: Yes, we have sides.
Long pause while he stares at me.
Husband: Wait a minute, is that why you keep putting things on my side of the sink?
Me: I didn't realize that we had sides. I thought it was everyone's space.
Husband: Of course we have sides! Why do you think I kept putting things back on your side?
Me: I don't know, I just thought you liked moving stuff.
Husband: It's amazing we have made it this long.

Despite having nothing in common we really enjoy each other's company and I'm looking forward to spending the evening celebrating a newly married couple.

Have a good weekend,

Mary
