Twice a year we go to Arbor Day Farm to spend the day outside-hiking, climbing, exploring and just being outside. We like to go in the fall and the spring to see how the trees change with the seasons. We went last week and along with our usual favorite outdoor activities we also tried out Treetop Village. One word: awesome.
What is Treetop Village? It is a series of suspended bridges between 11 tree houses. You are in the tree canopy or above it. Some of the bridges are straight walkways, some have levels and some are snake-shaped.
Halfway through the walkways there is an area with a WonderNet, a large, raised area for jumping and playing. It is basically a giant trampoline and it can fit up to 15 people. There are also slides that kids can go down and then connect back up with the path.
It is accessible for all ages and abilities so your four year old won't have to watch from the ground as the rest of you have a good time. I saw one mom pushing a stroller through it (I was impressed!) and there was a spritely grandpa walking along with his grand-kids (equally impressive).
The best part? You can go through it again and again and again and again. Admission to it is included in your price. We went on a Saturday and there was a small line. It took us about 25 minutes to go through; I loved every minute of it!
If you go plan for staying at least half a day. By the time you explore the outdoor classrooms, hike, play by the creek and on the Treetop Village it will be a few hours plus it is not an inexpensive trip. We paid $54 for the five of us to go. There are no food venues at Arbor Day Tree Farm, make sure to pack a lunch and snacks.
Arbor Day Tree Farm is located in Nebraska City.
