A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: OCTOBER 31, 2019

By Mary Monahan October 31, 2019

My parents drive out from Wyoming each year to celebrate Halloween with us. They only get 10-12 trick-or-treaters at their house and we get hundreds so instead they come to Lincoln. I'm not exaggerating about the number of children who ring our doorbell. The least number of kids that have ever walked by is 300. It is a three hour parade and I enjoy every second of it. The joy on the kids' faces and the love on the parents' faces watching their children makes my heart swell.

One of the best costumes that I have seen come to our house was a homemade Inspector Gadget outfit,  we had 37 kids dressed as Elsa last year and I rarely know what the teenagers are dressed as (I'm getting old!). My parents were Nemo and Dory last year and this year they are Jessie and Woody from Toy Story. One of my favorite memories from last year was when a two year old little girl, who was also dressed as Nemo, said to my Mom, "You Nemo! I Nemo!" over and over. She just couldn't believe it.

My husband and I are going as Poppy and Branch, from Trolls, this year. He claims that I am Poppy in human form so he thought we should dress as them. Have fun this evening with your kids, grandkids, friends, family and neighbors.

Happy Halloween!
