A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: FEBRUARY 13, 2020

By Mary Monahan February 12, 2020

I love Valentine's Day-and not for the smoochy, syrupy kind of love that makes nine year old boys gag-I'm with you, gross!

I love Valentine's Day because I'm a sucker for heart-shaped anything. When I think of February 14th I think of coming down the stairs to the kitchen table and seeing a heart-shaped chocolate box on my plate. If my sister had beat me downstairs she would already be poking the bottoms of the chocolates to figure out what flavor each one was (those new diagrams of flavors really ruin the fun).

Valentine's Day makes me think of building the boxes that we would collect our cards in at school. There was always that one kid whose mom or dad would go all out and their box would look like the Taj Mahal.

On Friday, my kids will come home and we will dump out their boxes or bags and go through each card. It is a bit like traveling back in time which I think is one of the best, and worst, parts of parenting, getting to experience it all again.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mary
