Staying at an overnight summer camp is one of the most fun and positive growth activities a child or teen can participate in. This year, more than ever, kids need a chance to connect, to be outside, and to experience a broader world.
YMCA Camp Kitaki is ready to bring all of the fun of overnight camp in 2021, while reducing the risk of Covid 19 transmission through proven strategies developed and studied by the Center for Disease Control and the American Camp Association. Your camper’s safety is our top priority!
Located halfway between Lincoln and Omaha, YMCA Camp Kitaki is bursting with both exciting and relaxing activities such as archery, campfires, climbing tower, zipline, ropes challenge course, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boats and boards, music, games, crafts, drama and more.
The kids have so much fun that they may not even realize they are building life skills, character, self-esteem, lifelong friendships, and memories at the same time.
Camp Description
Owned and operated by the YMCA of Lincoln, Camp Kitaki is an American Camp Association-accredited facility with modern amenities to make your child feel comfortable and at-home. Camp Kitaki’s purpose is to build strong kids through programs that develop positive identities, confidence, values, relationships, and life skills in a unique, natural setting.
Weeklong overnight camps for ages 7 to 17, and half-week camps for campers ages 7 to 9, provide a chance to explore the outdoors, make new friends, build confidence, discover new interests, and create memories.
Kitaki focuses on developing social skills and self-esteem, and making campers feel safe and secure surrounded by caring, positive adult role models. Social learning, hands-on interaction, imaginative free play, music, arts, and lots of healthy and fun physical activities make Camp Kitaki a place of learning where kids love to go.
Every activity at camp is designed to challenge and teach, but made fun and delivered in a natural environment. For example, archery isn’t just shooting an arrow at a target—it’s a lesson in practice, patience and the power of words. Like an arrow leaving a bow, after words leave your mouth their direction cannot be changed. Such lessons can stay with campers for a lifetime.
Camp Kitaki is also a great way to ensure your child has "on their own" experiences, while still being supported and supervised by caring adults. Studies show that kids who are given the chance to be independent in safe environments like camp are more likely to succeed as they grow into adulthood.
As a child grows, camp offers new experiences: Ranch Camp focuses on working with horses; Our Rustic Adventure Camps allows kids to function as their own community in a rustic setting and learn new outdoor skills together; and our traditional Summer Camp program has new activities each and every year a camper returns. Sessions range from four days for the youngest campers to a two-week Leadership Camp for teens, and many options in between!
The YMCA of Lincoln and YMCA Camp Kitaki believe that every kid deserves the chance to go to camp, so we offer tiered pricing and scholarships to make camp affordable and accessible.
Summer sessions are enrolling now, but they fill up fast so register today!
