Park of the Week: Crete City Park

By Mary Monahan July 21, 2022

I visited Crete for the first time recently, dropping one of my kids off at a camp at Doane University. Such a beautiful campus!

After dropping her off, I drove through town and saw an incredible lion drinking fountain at their city park and had to stop. This park is a mix of old school equipment (love it) and new equipment. They have a lovely fountain, a bandstand and lots of green space.

PARKING AND LOCATION
  • Crete City Park is located at E 12th St and Linden Avenue
  • There is parking all along the streets surrounding the park

SPECIAL FEATURES & PLAYGROUND NOTES

  • This park would be fun for all ages. There is so much equipment and I loved the mix of old and new equipment.
  • There are lots of swings-including two baby swings.
  • While there is shade with the beautiful old trees, a lot of the playground isn't shaded and the older equipment would be HOT so I'd recommend going on a cloudy day or avoiding the hot afternoon.

BATHROOMS & OTHER AMENITIES

  • There are public restrooms on the south side of the city hall building
  • There is a band stand
  • There are benches throughout the park
  • Lots of green space and a fountain

Want to make a day of going to Crete? They have a new library and a large outdoor public pool!
