This week's park is not your regular "park;" instead, we visited the beautiful gardens at 27th St and A St. We explored the Hamann Rose Garden, Rotary Strolling Garden and the Bicentennial Cascade Fountain and then we visited the Sunken Gardens which are just across the street!

SPECIAL FEATURES & PLAYGROUND NOTES
- This is a beautiful area to explore with your children, on a date or by yourself. There are walking paths, fountains, benches and flowers everywhere!
- I would suggest packing a picnic and sitting under the shade of the evergreen trees near the fountain or at the Sunken Gardens among the many gorgeous blooms.
- The Rock Island Bike Trail runs right next to the Lincoln Children's Zoo so you can bike down.
- The Cascade Fountain was just restored.
- Hamann Rose Garden, Rotary Strolling Garden and the Bicentennial Cascade Fountain are hot during midday with little shade (roses need a lot of sun). The Sunken Gardens have more shade but if it is hot out, both parks are best enjoyed in the early evening hours or morning.
- The fountain is well-lit at night.
- The Sunken Gardens have koi ponds (my personal favorite).
