Park of the Week: Hickman Park

By Mary Monahan August 18, 2022

Two of our readers messaged me telling me that I had to go see the new park in Hickman. So, I put my three kids in the van and one friend for each of them (the van was packed) and we drove over to the new park. They were not kidding-it is incredible. Slides, zip lines, obstacle course for tweens/teens, swings.

We couldn't find a name for this park anywhere so we have temporarily nicknamed it "Best Park Ever" because that is what the kids kept telling me!

  • 6 Swings
  • Multiple two-story slides
  • Zip Lines
  • Teen/Adult Obstacle Course
  • Ninja Course
  • Monkey Bars

LOCATION

  • I couldn't find an official address for the park. Drive to the intersection Oakview Dr and 10th St in Hickman and you'll see the park in the distance. You'll know it because if your kids are like mine they'll scream, "Look at that park!"

SPECIAL FEATURES & PLAYGROUND NOTES

  • I was honestly stunned by the size of this park! It is enormous and has a range of equipment for all ages. I had two 12-year-olds with me and I loved that a lot of the equipment was still big enough for them to play on. They might be big kids but they are still kids!
  • There is an "Elevate Equipment" section that is teens/tweens and even adults. It is an obstacle course.
  • The ziplines were everyone's favorites. The ten and nine year old spent an hour on them.
  • You can climb and climb and climb at this park.
  • We arrived (6 kids) and then about 20 neighborhood kids came from surrounding houses. This park is so large that another 20 could have come and it still wouldn't have felt crowded.

BATHROOMS, PARKING & OTHER AMENITIES****Updated Information

Since sharing the information about this park several residents have contacted regarding trash, parking, lots more cars than usual. The new Hickman park is great (I wish our neighborhood park was like this one!)-please keep it that way by being respectful of it and it’s neighbors.

  • There are no bathrooms at this park. Plan ahead.
  • This is a brand new park and benches have not been installed yet.
  • The park is wood-chipped so make sure to wear close-toed shoes.
  • There is no shade and we went at 4:00 PM and were HOT. Don't go midday.
  • There are no trash cans (pick up your trash)
  • There is no parking lot. We parked directly next to the park. Don’t block peoples driveways or turn around in them.
  • There are no water fountains. Bring water!

Hickman, this park is amazing-well done!
