From classics to new twists on Christmas regulars-there are great live shows and plays this holiday season in our area!

🎭 NWU Theatre presents Holiday Inn
December 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11:
What if your twin desires were to settle down, and to dazzle? For Jim, the answer is the Holiday Inn: a quiet farmhouse that bursts to life as a holiday-only music venue. It's a hit. But can he ever expect a lover to strike the same unusual balance of peace and performance? This hit musical features several of Irving Berlin's cherished holiday favorites, like "White Christmas" and "Happy Holidays."

🎭Southwest's Silver Hawk Theatre presents Irving Berlin’s WHITE CHRISTMAS

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas tells the story of two showbiz buddies putting on a show in a picturesque Vermont inn, and finding their perfect mates in the bargain.  Full of dancing, romance, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written, including “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep,” “Happy Holiday,” “Sisters,” “Blue Skies,” and the unforgettable title song, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas promises to be a merry and bright experience for the entire family!

December 4:
‘Tis the season! LSO’s annual celebration returns with lots of holly, jolly, and more, including Sleigh Ride and The Nutcracker with guest conductor Lucas Waldin. Tenor Drew Duncan will bring beloved holiday songs to life, and audiences of all ages can celebrate the joy of the season with dancers from Chase Dance and Dancing Beyond Limits The concert also showcases Bell-issimo handbell choir and Lincoln Suzuki Studios.

πŸŽ„Let Heaven and Nature Sing: Christmas with Wesleyan-By Abendmusik
December 4:

Nebraska Wesleyan University choirs will be joined by choral ensembles from Waverly High School and the Lincoln Boys Choir to share the music and message of the season in a concert entitled Let Heaven and Nature Sing: Christmas with Wesleyan.

The five choral ensembles consisting of more than 150 musicians will be accompanied by a string quintet, oboe, guitar, percussion, piano and organ. Audiences are invited to sing along with the choirs in familiar carols, including "Joy to the World" and "O Come, All Ye Faithful."

December 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18
Because of his shiny nose, Rudolph doesn't feel like he belongs in Christmastown and sets off to find a place that accepts him. Along his journey, he encounters fellow misfits, only to realize that home is where he has belonged the whole time. When a storm threatens to keep Santa's sleigh from taking flight, it's up to Rudolph to save Christmas! Featuring favorite characters like Hermey the Elf, Yukon Cornelius, Clarice, and Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, this is an adventure that teaches us that what makes you different can be what makes you special.

December 11:
The Plymouth Choir, Plymouth Ringers, Plymouth Brass, and Abendmusik Chamber Orchestra bring a thrilling message of hope through stirring carols and spirited songs to celebrate Christmas.  


🎼Husker Horn Choir-Holiday Horns
December 14:
The University of Nebraska School of Music will hold a concert in the 2nd floor rotunda of the Capitol on Wednesday December 14, 2022 at noon featuring French Horns playing holiday music. The public is encouraged to attend this festive holiday concert.


🩰The Nutcracker at the Lied Center
December 17 and 18
The Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company's Nutcracker features almost 200 student dancers from southeastern Nebraska in a performance featuring professional guest artists. The classic story of The Nutcracker comes to life with the finest choreography, costumes, and scenery, making this production a treasured holiday tradition.

December 17
The Coro di Flauti Flute Choir will perform in the Capitol 2nd floor rotunda.

December 22, 23, 24
Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical is the record-setting Broadway holiday sensation which features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” from the original animated special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville and helps remind us of the true meaning of the holiday season.
