"This is my new favorite water park!" That sentence was repeated over and over on our way home from Louisville Recreation Area's Floating Playground.
So why it is so great? There is a trampoline, a pillow, an obstacle course, a platform to jump from, and many other activities.
We got in line about 20 minutes before it opened and there were already thirty people ahead of us. I recommend arriving early and hopping in line. At first, I thought 90 minutes seemed short. Wow, I was wrong. Participants pull themselves up when you fall in the lake. There are ladders but they are spread out. By the time the session is up, everyone was exhausted.
I didn't go on the playground. I watched from the shore. There were adults out there but I know myself and my ankles and it looked like a place that I would hurt myself. I felt very comfortable with the my children on the course. There are multiple lifeguards.
- You must be at least 6 years old and able to swim. All participants wear a life jacket at all times and there are lifeguards on duty.
- Tuesday through Sunday at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Closed on Mondays for maintenance.
- Tickets are sold in person only at the kiosk near the floating playground. Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to each session. There are 100 participants, max, for each session.
- $18 for adults (age 13 and over) and $13 for children (age 12 and under) for a 90 minute session. Admission includes rental of required life jacket. Life jackets are required for anyone using the playground, and are provided.
Louisville is about 30-40 minutes from Lincoln depending on where you are located. My kids and their friends all gave it two thumbs up; they highly recommend it!
