By Rachel Barth, Lincoln Airport December 29, 2024

The holiday season is a time for family, joy, and travel. If you’re flying with children this year, preparation and planning can make all the difference. Here are some tips to help your journey go smoothly, especially when flying out of the Lincoln Airport (LNK):

1. Pack Smart

   - Essentials Within Reach: Keep snacks, wipes, a change of clothes, and favorite toys or activities in your carry-on.

   - Travel Light: Consider checking larger items like car seats and strollers to minimize what you carry through the airport.

 2. Timing is Everything

   - Arrive Early: Getting to the airport with extra time lets you handle security and boarding at a comfortable pace. Need help with your bags or stroller? LNK has a customer service team ready to help free of charge.

   - Choose Flights Wisely: Early morning flights help ensure you get to your destination on time. Luckily for you LNK Airport is easy to navigate from parking to ticketing and through security. Average wait time is less than 10 minutes.

 3. Keep Kids Entertained

   - Activities: Pack age-appropriate books, coloring materials, or electronic devices with headphones.

   - Surprises: A few small, wrapped toys can work wonders to keep little ones occupied. LNK also offers free crayons and coloring books at our Customer Service counter. For children of all ages we also have LNK branded wood airplanes to help keep them busy.

 4. Take Advantage of LNK Airport

   - Convenience: With shorter lines and easy parking, Lincoln Airport takes the stress out of holiday travel.

   - Family-Friendly Amenities: Enjoy spacious waiting areas and helpful staff ready to assist families.

   - Close to Home: Flying out of LNK means less time on the road and more time with loved ones.

 5. Stay Flexible

   - Prepare for Delays: Bring extra snacks, chargers, and patience to handle unexpected schedule changes.

   - Stay Calm: Children pick up on your mood—a relaxed attitude can help keep them at ease.

Traveling with kids doesn’t have to be daunting. With a little preparation and the convenience of flying from Lincoln Airport, you can focus on creating memories that last a lifetime. Safe travels and happy holidays!

6. Extra Supports for People with Disabilities

Do you have a family member who has a disability and/or needs extra support? The Lincoln Airport is here to help your family make air travel less stressful for everyone.

   - The Lincoln Airport has partnered with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower organization to bring its Sunflower Lanyard Program to LNK. We are proud to be the first airport in Nebraska to implement this program!

 - The Lincoln Airport has a small child area in our Mother's room (post security). If a child is overstimulated, they can go into the room and play. It is quiet and secluded.
