Fall is here. I love October-it is such a wonderful time to be outside. Lincoln has so many activities and events and many are FREE, including all of the events listed below. It was hard to make the list this month because there are so many great events (it could easily have been 50 events). Enjoy this month of cooler temps!

⭐️All About Astronomy at Platte River State Park-Make a constellation, use a star chart to identify seasonal stars, examine a moon globe and compare it to the moon you see in the sky and more. Use what you learn late at night as the stars become visible. October 3, 10,17, 24.
🍫S'mores & Gourds-Celebrate fall at the Pioneers Park Nature Center with pumpkins, treats, and a little bit of movie magic! October 3.
🐶Husker Valley Cluster Dog Show-This family-friendly event showcases some of the best dogs in the region with competitions, shopping, and fun for all ages. October 4 and 5.
🌙Harvest Moon Festival-Come join us for the Asian Center’s annual Harvest Moon Festival, a celebration of cultural diversity in Lincoln! This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. Guests will enjoy a variety of cultural performances, music, food, and activities. October 5.
Launch Your 4-H Journey-4-H staff will present an overview of 4-H and its many opportunities. Several 4-H youth will share their projects (including STEM, art, rabbits, cats, dogs, guinea pig, miniature horse and more). October 5.
💧Full Moon Kayak Program at Holmes Lake-Join Nebraska Game & Parks outdoor educators for a night of exploration at Holmes Lake under the rising Full Moon. October 6.
🎼Roots & Restore/Music in the Pines-Immerse your senses as you explore the enchanted forest at Prairie Pines. Find physical and mental wellbeing in nature through yoga, meditation, tai chi, therapy, and forest bathing. October 12.
🎷Musical Bookworms and Instrument Petting Zoo with Lincoln Symphony Orchestra- LSO will join us at this music-themed storytime and share their Instrument Petting Zoo after! October 18.
Reptiles of Nebraska Family Event-Dennis Ferraro (UNL Herpetologist) will be having a exhibit of snakes, lizards and turtles of Nebraska. Along with live animals there will be touch stations, coloring stations, turtle activities, snake activities, and many activity booths dedicated to educating Nebraskans on the importance and awesomeness of native reptiles in our state. October 23.
Cars & Coffee at Museum of American Speed-From 8 am until noon we invite you to bring your specialty vehicle and help yourself to free coffee and admire some really cool cars like your own! Participants receive two free vouchers to the Museum of American Speed for bringing a specialty vehicle! October 25.
