Directions and Parking: This park does not have a parking lot; you need to park on the surrounding streets. There is always plenty of parking.
Playground: It has an average size play structure with two slides, four swings (two are "baby" swings) and a see-saw. The ground covering at Pocras is black mat and is usually covered with chalk drawings. We bring chalk with us to add to the art work. The play structure is a good fit for young children; there aren't too many ladders or openings that they can fall through.
Bathrooms: This is a neighborhood park and does not have bathrooms.
Other: One of the best parts about Pocras Park is the field adjacent to the park. It is large enough for kids to be able to run, play chase and kick a ball but small enough that parents will not lose sight of them. There are large pine trees to play hide-n-seek in as well. The shelter is a lovely gazebo with two tables and is just right for a picnic.
Overall: My kids enjoy this park for a late afternoon excursion. We always bring chalk with us to draw and a ball to kick around in the field. There is little shade during the day so be sure to wear sunscreen. You will rarely be alone at this park; there are usually one or two other families there. In the afternoons during the school year, there tends to be a passing crowd as the kids make their way home from school. Its a beautiful neighborhood to walk around in so you can park a few blocks away and as you walk enjoy the century old homes.
