Area: This is not a traditional park. It is located in the Haymarket in downtown Lincoln and it doesn’t have a playground but there are lots of other fun things for kids to play on.
Directions and Parking: The park is off of 7th St and Q St. As far as parking goes, good luck to you! Parking downtown is difficult at certain times of day. The best time to find parking is about 10:00 AM on a weekday.
Playground: This is not a normal park. There is no playground. Instead there is an iron climbing train. My kids can spend hours on it! There is also a retired train, which has signs all over it stating, “Do not climb”; however, it is usually being climbed when we are there. Additionally there is a fountain and a train mural that kids also adore touching and climbing.
Bathrooms: There are no public bathrooms. This park is surrounded by nearby restaurants and shops.
Other: There are small strips of grass on the other side of park near the retired train. There are several benches on which to sit and enjoy people watching. The park is actually shaded pretty well by trees and the buildings.
Overall: If you are going to dinner downtown, this park is a great stop. You can get some energy out before dinner or while you are waiting for your table. Even though it is a small park my kids never want to leave.
