Roper Park

N 3rd and Fairfield StLincoln, NE
Area: Roper Park is located in Northeast Lincoln. It is a very large park with biking trails, a baseball diamond, a disc golf course, tennis courts and lots of shelters. We are only covering the playground and the immediate area.

Directions and Parking: The parking lot for Roper Park is off of N 3rd Street and Fairfield St.

Playground: This playground is larger than a lot of others in Lincoln. It is a “three story” playground. My kids really enjoy it and there is a lot of imaginative play (Rapunzel locked in the tower and pirates hiding out). There are four swings, two regular and two baby swings. There are two ride-ons and monkey bars. The ground covering is black mat and rocky sand so bring your bag of sand toys and some chalk.

Bathrooms: There are restrooms at this park but they are right next to the parking lot and a small walk from the playground. Use the restroom before you go down to the playground.

Other: The playground is not viewable from the parking lot. After you park, follow the sidewalk down a hill and over a small bridge and the playground will appear. If you have sand toys, lunches and diaper bags, I would suggest bringing a stroller or wagon to haul all of it. This park is also home to one of the city’s only disc golf courses. Beware of flying Frisbees around the playground and as you are walking.

Overall: If we are on this side of town, this is our go-to park. My kids love to throw sticks into the water under the bridge and have “races.” They also really enjoy this playground, which is partially shaded at the right time of day.
