Description

Unlike the 2017 total eclipse, this one is only partial from Lincoln, so it will be unsafe to view the event at any time without proper eye protection. In Lincoln, the Eclipse begins at 12:38 p.m. CDT and reaches a maximum obscuration of 80% of the area of the sun at 1:53 p.m., CDT, with the eclipse ending at about 3:08 p.m. Hyde Observatory will be opening from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT, and weather permitting, will provide telescopic views of the sun through properly filtered telescopes in the observatory, as well video programs in the main lecture room. Eclipse glasses will also be available on a first-come first-serve basis.
