A Note From the Publisher-March 19, 2020

By Mary Monahan March 19, 2020

Well, this has been quite the week hasn't it? A lot can change in seven days.

Our sweet neighbor boy and my children's dear friend turned seven yesterday. We couldn't celebrate with him so we walked down and sang happy birthday to him from the sidewalk. I hope when he is older he looks back at pictures from this birthday and laughs and thinks, "That was the weirdest birthday that I've ever had."

As we move into our new (temporary) normal our website will look slightly different. If you see a computer before an event on our calendar this is an online scheduled event or an online resource and we have found a lot of great online events-many from local organizations like the Lincoln Children's Museum or Lincoln Children's Zoo. You'll see businesses listed that have take out options such as Paint Yourself Silly and Makit Takit. If you are looking for COVID specific information such as meals for children or education resources click here.

Remember, our first order of business as parents is to take care of our children and while that includes educating them, our job is to love them and let them know that they are somewhere safe. This is extremely stressful and scary but creating panic in our own homes will not help our children. Try to find fun and laughter over these next weeks/months. Let them watch that show, make the slime (ugh, I hate slime), bake lots and lots of cookies, do Facetime parties with their friends. When this is over, and it will end, we don't want to have children who have been shaped by our anxiety and fear. Shape them with your creativity, your humor and your love.
